How is ChemEcol's technology different from other fuel additives or treatments?
ChemEcol’s technology has a number of properties that make it the optimal after-market fuel additive. The measured and documented effects of Additone in use in the field and lab include an average fuel cost saving of 3%, substantial reductions in gaseous and particulate pollutant emissions, reduced engine noise and improved engine component life. How are these effects achieved?
Our technology has a mild detergency. This cleans and then keeps clean components in the fuel line, especially the fuel injectors. Clean fuel injectors produce a predictable, consistent spray pattern. Secondly this detergency aids in creating a spray consistently sized droplets of fuel ('atomized'), allowing the combustion to proceed more rapidly and smoothly through the charge within the combustion chamber.
ChemEcol’s applied combustion chemistry employed improves the economics of the burn. The charge of blended air and fuel typically find a chemical balance in reacting that is not efficient. This causes the unsatisfactory levels of various pollutants we see in even an MOT approved vehicle. Additone is designed to aid and control the reactions of the fuel with the oxygen and other gases in the air. This controls the production of CO, CO2, NOx, SOx etc. Financially, this has a couple of effects, easier passing of emissions tests and a reduction in corrosion in the exhaust system.
The results are impressive. The improved burn achieved creates less particulate discharge. These particulates usually travel in two directions: principally through the exhaust system into the atmosphere where they cause damage to the environment and human health or form ‘soot’ deposits in the exhaust. Secondly the particulates are absorbed into the film of sump oil coating the cylinder walls and thus conveyed into the lubricant system. This increases the viscosity of the oil, reducing its effectiveness and thereby reducing the protection offered to engine components. The financial aspect to this is a reduced downtime and a possible extension in the life of the oil and oil filter.
Additone is purely hydrocarbon based. It contains no ‘foreign substances’ such as water, polymers or metals (ash forming metals are prohibited under the World Wide Fuel Charter). Additives with these constituents can be hard to blend and keep in suspension and can cause problems with onboard control systems as well as contributing to other forms of environmental pollution and damage health.

Others contain metals such as magnesium, iron etc. which can form ash, have bad effects of human health and damage vehicle components.

Often these products are very strong in the raw state and so are diluted into carrier fluids such as plant oils. These do not affect the combustion process on a truly fundamental level though.
